Bakalářské práce upozorňuje na rozdíly anglických a českých idiomů a jejich použití v překladu. V první části se bakalářská práce okrajově věnuje teorii překladu. Dále pojednává o významu idiomů v literatuře, jejich charakteristice, klasifikaci a v neposlední řadě o samotném přístupu v překládání idiomů. Ve své praktické části se zaměřuje na rozdíl vybraných idiomů v českém a anglickém jazyce. Porovnává odlišnost mezi českým a anglickým idiomem stejného významu, a to zejména mezi doslovným překladem anglického idiomu a českým ekvivalentem. This bachelor thesis deals with the differences between English and Czech idioms and their translation. The first part of the thesis is focused on the theory of translation, on the significance of idioms in literature and language, their characterization, classification and nonetheless, it deals with idiom translation strategies. The practical part is focused on the differences of chosen idioms in English and Czech language. Mainly the difference between the literal and correct approach to translation is shown.
