Národopisná komise pracovala v letech 1941–1946 s cílem účelně využít zvláštní vládní dotaci ve prospěch české lidové kultury ohrožené zásahy fašistického Německa. Spolupracovala s vrcholnými českými vědeckými a muzejními institucemi a finančně přispívala na jejich činnost. Podporovala sběrovou práci jednotlivců a vznik některých národopisných děl. Pořádala zaměřovací akci lidové architektury na území Protektorátu. Pořídila na 10 000 snímků, tvořících základ archivu fotografií EÚ AV ČR v Praze The Ethnographic Committee operated in 1941–1946 to make use of a special state subsidy for Czech vernacular culture threatened by Nazi Germany. It worked with and financed top Czech scientific and museum institutions. It supported collection work by individuals and creation of some ethnographic works. It organised surveys of vernacular architecture in the Protectorate. It acquired some 10,000 images which form the basis of the photo archive of the present-day Ethnographic Institute in Prague
