Státní ústav pro lidovou píseň byl založen v roce 1919. V jeho čele se vystřídaly přední vědecké kapacity. Jeho cílem bylo řídit sběratelskou a ediční činnost v oboru lidové písně na celém území Československa a vybudovat síť spolehlivých spolupracovníků v různých krajích země The National institute for folk song was founded in 1919. At the head of it there were prominent scientists. Its objective was like this: to manage collector´s activity and editions of folk songs. The institute arranged a network of faithful workers into a good working system in the various regions of the country all over Czechoslovakia
