Bakalářská práce si klade za cíl postihnout společenskou funkci a specifika rabínského úřadu v proměnách 19. století na příkladu třebíčského rabína Joachima Pollaka (1798-1879), který ve své funkci působil od roku 1828 až do své smrti. Výchozím pramenem práce je korpus Pollakovy hebrejské korespondence, uložený v Archivu Židovského muzea v Praze. Tento rozsáhlý rukopisný materiál autor práce zanalyzoval a vyhotovil k němu přehled jako pomůcku pro další badatele. Informace získané z tohoto zdroje pak řešitel doplňuje o poznatky ze sekundární literatury i o další archivní materiály, na základě čehož mapuje kompetence, povinnosti a další činnost obecního rabína středně velké obce. Ty pak vztahuje ke společenským, kulturním a ekonomickým proměnám židovských obcí na Moravě a vývoje židovské společnosti jako takové v průběhu 19. století. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org) This B.A. thesis is a case study, contributing toward the understanding to the nineteenth-century rabbinate in Moravia. It is based on a unique convolute of Hebrew correspondence of R. Joachim Pollak (1798-1879) who served as rabbi of Trebitsch since 1828 till his death. The convolute, now in the archive of the Jewish Museum in Prague, consists of over four hundred letters written by Pollak himself or adressed to him. The author analyzed the Hebrew manuscript, provided its paleographical analysis and placed it in the context of the epistolographic genre. The chronological list contains the names of Pollakʼs correspondents, many of whom were identified by the author. The letters, interpreted in the light of other archival and secondary sources, provide a unique insight into the competences, duties and activities of a local Moravian rabbi.
