Tato práce analyzuje příčiny, které vedly k přesunu moci mezi britskými kolonisty a vůdčími představiteli Indie. Cesta dekolonizace byla dlouhá a obtížná. Velká Británie sice investovala do technického rozvoje v Indii, ale většinou ve svůj vlastní prospěch. Určitý tlak lze najít ve zvyšující se vzdělanosti Indů, kteří byli schopni organizovat odboj proti britské nadvládě a vytvořit si tak politické skupiny. Určitý vliv na nezávislost byl způsoben i hospodářskou krizí po 2. světové válce, která vedla k oslabení ekonomické moci Velké Británie. Díky tomu byla Velká Británie nucena oznámit odchod z Indie. Nelze pominout rozpory mezi Indickým národním kongresem a Muslimskou ligou, které nakonec způsobily, že nebyl vytvořen nezávislý jednotný stát, ale Indie a Pákistán. This thesis analyses causes of the power transfer from British colonialists to the native people of India. This transition was long and difficult. Great Britain made an attempt on the improvement of the technical development in India, but only for their own benefit. People of India were able to fight against the British hegemony and create their own political parties. Certain influence on independence was also caused by the economic crisis after the Second World War, which has led to the weakening of the economic power of Great Britain. As a result, Great Britain was forced to announce the independence of India. The contradiction between Indian Nacional Congress and Muslims league had continued and two states were established, India and Pakistan.
