Sborník představuje 16 příspěvků, které reprezentují širokou škálu problémů podzemních orgánů rostlin na jejichž řešení se podílejí čeští botanici. Zastoupeny jsou metodické články o stanovení podzemní biomasy či použití herbochronologie, představení databáze, a několik případových studií o foragingu kořenů, regeneraci z adventivních pupenů na kořenech atd. Volume presents 16 contributions covering broad scale of root research in the Czech Republic. Included are papers on methodology of root biomass assessment, methodology of herb-chronology, introduction of database of belowground organs, several case studies on root foraging, vegetative regeneration from adventitious buds on roots etc.
