Hlavním cílem bakalářské práce je zhodnotit vliv a přínos konkurence pro cestujícího a pro společnost na trhu osobní železniční přepravy. Práce se nejprve věnuje obecné charakteristice dopravy a dále se zaměřuje konkrétněji na osobní železniční přepravu. Mimo jiné se v této části zabývá její historií a charakteristickými znaky včetně porovnání s jinými dopravními alternativami. Druhá část popisuje orgány a instituce regulující železniční dopravce, zákonnou úpravu, práva a povinnosti operátorů při vstupu na železniční trh a regulaci při jejich následném výkonu svěřeného závazku, a nakonec podobu konkurence v osobní železniční přepravě. Další kapitola se zaobírá charakteristikami konkurentů. V závěru práce zhodnotí vliv konkurenčního prostředí a polemizuje nad otázkou, zdali je konkurence na železničním trhu smysluplná. The main aim of this bachelor thesis is to evaluate the influence and benefits arising from the presence of competition in the railway passenger transport market for passenger and society. The thesis firstly analyses general characteristics of transport and furthermore aims in more detail at railway passenger transport. In this part it among other things deals with its history and characteristics including comparison with other transport alternatives. The second part describes agencies and institutions regulating transport companies, legal basis, rights and duties of the operators during the process of entering the rail market and its regulation during the performance of the undertaking given and finally the forms of competition in passenger rail transport. Next chapter is concerned with characteristics of the competitors. In the end the thesis evaluates the influence of competitive environment and argues, whether is the competition in the railway passenger market meaningful.
