Posilování konkurenceschopnosti cestovního ruchu v Evropské unii je jednou z priorit současného politického rámce. Evropská unie si uvědomuje význam cestovního ruchu v ekonomice i výzvy, které pro ni představují ostatní regiony. Práce nejprve vysvětluje koncept konkurenceschopnosti cestovního ruchu včetně možností jejího měření. Poté práce popisuje politiku cestovního ruchu Evropské unie, uvádí programy a fondy, které Evropská unie používá k podpoře cestovního ruchu, a zachycuje současnou situaci cestovního ruchu Evropské unie. Na základě poznatků získaných v teoretické části a provedeného dotazníkového šetření je vytvořen vlastní systém měření konkurenceschopnosti cestovního ruchu v Evropské unii. Tento systém je poté aplikován na Českou republiku. Stimulating the competitiveness of tourism in the European Union is one of the priorities of the current policy framework. The European Union is aware of the importance of tourism in the economy and of the challenges posed by other regions. The thesis first explains the concept of tourism competitiveness, including the possibilities of its measuring. The thesis then describes the European Union's tourism policy, lists the programs and funds used by the European Union to support tourism and captures the current situation of tourism in the European Union. A system for measuring the tourism competitiveness in the European Union is created on the basis of the knowledge from the theoretical part and on the conducted survey. This system is then applied to the Czech Republic.
