Bakalářská práce se zabývá masakrem ve Srebrenici, který se odehrál během války v Bosně a Hercegovině v roce 1995. V teoretické části je objasněn pojem symbol používaný v rámci mezinárodních vztahů. Dále etnický vývoj na území bývalé Jugoslávie, stejně tak jako události vedoucí k masakru. V praktické části se práce snaží odpovědět na otázku, zda se srebrenický masakr na základě komunikace v médiích stal symbolem a jestli má případně specifický význam. The bachelor thesis deals with the massacre in Srebrenica which took place during the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1995. In the theoretical part is explained the concept of symbol in international relations. Furthermore ethnic development as well as events which led to the Srebrenica massacre. In the practical part the thesis tries to answer the question whether the massacre on the basis of media became a symbol and if it has special meaning.
