Cílem práce je analyzovat roli chavistické ekonomické a sociální politiky v hospodářském a společenském vývoji Venezuely mezi roky 1999-2016. Práce poskytuje ucelený pohled na výkon venezuelské ekonomiky ve sledovaném období a zasazuje jej do kontextu vnitřních i vnějších hybných faktorů. Práce je psána za použití analýzy, deskripce a komparace. Nejprve se zaměřuje na popis a analýzu okolností, které vedly ke zvolení Huga Cháveze a většinovému přijetí Chavisma. Poté zkoumá konkrétní kroky měnové a fiskální politiky se zvláštním důrazem na změny v politice směnných kurzů, přerozdělování a znárodňování. Na základě analýzy a komparace bylo prokázáno, že ekonomická politika Chavisma je neefektivní, vedla k hyperinflaci a uvrhla zemi do nejhorší ekonomické a společenské krize v její historii. The aim of this thesis is to analyze the role of the chavista economic and social policies within economic and social development of Venezuela between 1999 and 2016. This thesis offers a comprehensive view of the economic performance during the tested period with major external and internal factors in mind. It uses the methods of analysis, description and comparison. The initial objective is to describe and analyze the circumstances which inevitably led to the election of Hugo Chavez and the Chavismo being accepted by the majority of people. Following with analysis of particular monetary and fiscal policies with special focus on the Exchange rate policy, redistribution policy and expropriations of parts of the private sector. The analysis has proved the economic policies of Chavismo to be ineffective, eventually leading to hyperinflation and causing Venezuela to undergo the worst economic and social crisis in its history.
