Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá institucializovanou mediální podporou, která se nazývá endorsement. Jedná se o doporučení politického kandidáta, které média dávají svým odběratelům před volbami. Tento mediální produkt je charakteristický zejména pro anglosaské mediální prostředí. Autor tak pro sepsání této práce využil několikaměsíčního pobytu ve Spojených státech amerických v období před tamními prezidentskými volbami roku 2016. Práce z velké míry vychází z rozhovoru s předsedou editoriální rady předního floridského deníku Tampa Bay Times Timem Nickensem. Teoretická část práce se věnuje persvazivní funkci médií na potenciální voliče a vztahu médií k politickým entitám. Mimořádný důraz je kladen na historický kontext endorsementu a je nastíněn jeho vývoj od 16. století do současnosti. V analytické části práce komparuje několik endorsementů vydaných předními i lokálními novinami a popisuje nové fenomény, se kterými se doporučování kandidátů v dnešní době potýká. Konečně práce shrnuje nejdůležitější události inkriminovaných prezidentských voleb, v jejichž finále se proti sobě postavili Donald Trump a Hillary Clintonová, a analyzuje endorsement v audiovizuálních médiích. This bachelor thesis deals with institutionalized media support, which is called endorsement. It is the recommendation of a political candidate that the media give their subscribers before the elections. This media product is particularly characteristic for the Anglo-Saxon media environment. The author made use of his several-month stay in the United States in the run-up to the 2016 presidential election for writing this work. The work is in many ways based on an interview with Tim Nickens, the chairman of the Tampa Bay Times editorial board. The theoretical part enlightens the persuasive functions of the media on potential voters and the relation of media to political entities. Particular emphasis is placed on the historical context of endorsement and outlines its development from the 16th century to the present days. In the analytical part of the thesis is comparation of several endorsements issued by leading and local american newspapers and is described new phenomena, with which the endorsements must deal nowadays. Finally, the thesis summarizes the most important events of the incriminated presidential election and also analyzes the endorsement in the audiovisual media.
