Abstract: The submitted thesis is based on the assumption that Mircea Eliade was associated with fascism and antisemitism and I found this assumption defensible. However the goal of the thesis was not to prove or disprove this connection. My intention in the first part (Chapter 2) is to show that Eliade was influenced by few factors on his political preferences. In those factors are included the following components: the political situation in the interwar Romania; the far-right Iron Guard movement; and the professor Nae Ionescu from the University of Bucharest. My intention in the second part (Chapter 3) is to give an analysis of "Judaism in Eliade's academic writings". Eliade was often using the "patterns" of the Jewish religion as illustrative examples. However there are much more references to Judaism presented in Eliade's concept of time and history. From the interpretation of this concept ("philosophy of history") emerged as Eliade was criticizing the Jewish, as the case may be the Judeo-Christian tradition because of the two reasons: "the full acceptance of linear, historical time"; and "to place a value on history".
