Diplomová práce "Nakladatelství Meander" se zabývá charakteristikou tohoto nakladatelství v kontextu současného stavu knižního trhu a dětského čtenářství. V České republice dochází k paradoxní situaci. Literární produkce knih pro děti a mládež za poslední léta zaznamenala prudký rozmach, přesto poslední výzkumy čtenářství ukazují na výrazné snížení čtenářských návyků. Působí zde několik institucí a organizací, které se zavázaly k propagaci kvalitní literatury pro děti a mládež a ke zvýšení motivace k četbě. Nakladatelství Meander je jednou z nich, každoročním pořádáním festivalu "Děti, čtete?" se významně podílí na podpoře dětského čtenářství. Produkce nakladatelství spočívá ve vydávání uměleckých knih, které přispívají ke zvyšování úrovně literatury pro děti a mládež. Výraznou osobností spojenou s nakladatelstvím Meander je spisovatel, výtvarník, hudebník a divadelník Petr Nikl. Pro svou všestrannou činnost je považován za významnou osobnost české kultury, pro svou literární činnost v oblasti nonsensové prózy a poezie se pak těší velké oblibě čtenářstva. There is a paradoxical situation in the Czech Republic. Although literary production of books for children and young people increases a lot in recent years, recent readership surveys show a significant decline in reading habits. There are several institutions in the Czech Republic trying to enforce the motivation to read and to support high-quality children's publishing. The Meander publishing house is annually involved in encouraging children to read through the festival called "Děti, čtete?" (Children, do you read?). The Meander publishing house offers the quality outstanding books which resulted in increasing of the literacy level of the Czech Republic. The publishing house is connected with the name Petr Nikl, an author, artist, theater artist and musician. He is a well-rounded Czech artist and thus he is considered to be one of the most significant personalities of Czech culture.
