1 Abstrakt Tato práce se věnuje akademickému bojkotu Izraele zejména na území Spojených států amerických. Práce se zaměřuje na dvě hnutí spojená s touto problematikou, kterými jsou Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel a hnutí BDS Movement. V práci je obsažen stručný popis těchto hnutí, jejich hlavní aktivity a kdo jsou jejich podporovatelé. Empirická část se věnuje akademickému bojkotu Izraele jako konceptu, který se snaží o řešení problému mezi Palestinou a Izraelem. Hlavní výzkumnou otázkou této práce je, zda mají aktivity obou hnutí reálný vliv na izraelsko-palestinský konflikt a pokud ano, tak jaký. Autorka analyzuje konkrétní příklady aktivit těchto hnutí a jejich dopad na konflikt samotný a dochází k několika závěrům. Jednotlivé aktivity hnutí nemají velký vliv na nalezení řešení konfliktu mezi Izraelem a Palestinou, avšak přispívají k jiným důležitým věcem. Díky hnutí USACBI se daří ve Spojených státech otevřít debatu na téma izraelsko-palestinského konfliktu a udržet její akademickou nestrannost. Hnutí BDS Movement vytváří tlak na izraelskou vládu a společnosti s ní spolupracují, což může v budoucnu přispět k vyřešení konfliktu mezi Izraelem a Palestinou. 1 Abstract This thesis focuses on the academic boycott of Israel in the United States of America. There is special focus on two movements, United States Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel (USACBI) and BDS Movement. This thesis includes a basic description of these campaigns, their activities and also their supporters. Analytic part is dedicated to explanation of concept of academic boycott. They are presented the main arguments in support of boycott compared to the opposing ones. The main research question of this work is if USACBI and BDS Movement do have a real impact on Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The result of this analysis is that they do have influence on the conflict even if they do not have a many impact on finding the solution. USACBI is the major supporter for opening a democratic debate about this issue. It also supports freedom of speech and giving space to professors who disagree with official policy of USA. BDS Movement is creating a pressure on Israeli government that could be a useful tool for solving the conflict between Israel and Palestine.
