Práce se zabývá budovou hotelu a festivalového kina Thermal v Karlových Varech. Cílem textu je pojmout budovu i s jejím okolím a historií jako neoddělitelný celek a v těchto intencích zdůraznit všechny důležité historické a umělecké konotace. Díky poměrně širokému tematickému rozsahu je práce rozdělena do dvou fundamentálních částí - historický kontext, umělecký a architektonický kontext. V prvním úseku jsou naznačeny historické okolnosti komplexu - lokalita před stavbou, výstavba a problematická privatizace s důsledky do současnosti. V druhé části je letmo představena struktura architektonického systému 60. let, život a dílo manželů Machoninových v souvislostech a popis komplexu hotelu Thermal, jeho interiérů, exteriérů a uměleckých děl v souvislostech s důrazem na základní použité architektonické principy. This thesis focuses on the complex of The festival cinema and hotel Thermal in Karlovy Vary especially in the historical and artistic context. The basic structure is divided in two fundamental parts - historical context and artistic context. The first one contains texts about history of locality and the story of how the komplex was built. The second one is made by texts about building, arts and desrciption of how they collaborate.
