Tato práce se zabývá v dnešní době aktuálním tématem ženy v čele USA. Přestože do současné doby stále nebyla prezidentkou ani viceprezidentkou USA žena, vývoj k tomuto spěje a několik žen se již dostalo velice blízko k jedné z těchto pozic. Práce zkoumá cestu amerických žen ze soukromého sektoru života do politiky a také ukotvení jejich práv v systému dvou hlavních politických stran. Ženy ve vysoké politice dodnes čelí nerovnému přístupu médií a veřejnosti a jsou hodnoceny jinak než jejich mužští protivníci. I tento fenomén je v krátkosti v této práci probírán. Poslední část práce obsahuje profily tří žen - Geraldine Ferraro, Sary Palin a Hillary Clinton, žen které v amerických prezidentských volbách došly nejdále. This thesis deals with the up to date topic of women as head of the United States of America. Although a woman has not yet been a President or Vice President of the U.S., there have been several women who came very close. This paper examines the path of American women from the private sphere of life into politics and also looks at how the women's equality is grounded in the rules of the two main political parties. Women in political office often have to face unequal bias from the media and society. Women are being judged and evaluated differently than their male counterparts. In this thesis, the phenomenon of gendered reporting is explained and summed up. In its last part, this paper includes the profiles of three women - Geraldine Ferraro, Sarah Palin and Hillary Clinton, three women who got the closest to the American presidency.
