Před více než osmi tisíci lety, v důsledku rychle se měnících environmentálních podmínek, dochází v oblasti Blízkého východu k zásadní změně ve strategii získávání potravy tehdejších obyvatel: z lovce-sběrače se postupně stává pastevec a zemědělec. I když jsou příčiny a průběh této "revoluce" v současnosti poměrně dobře zdokumentované, informací o biologickém pozadí transformace k zemědělství, tj. kultivace a domestikace plodin, je překvapivě málo, resp. jsou značně fragmentární. Tato práce se zabývá interakcí člověk- životní prostředí v raném a středního holocénu v oblasti severovýchodní Afriky a shrnuje současný stav poznání archeobotanických výzkumů se zvláštním ohledem na problematiku domestikace zemědělských plodin. More than eight thousand years ago, in the area of the Near East, crucial change in the human food-strategy occurred due to changing environmental conditions: hunter-gatherers become shepherds and farmers. Reasons of this "revolution" are known, nevertheless the biological background of this transformation, i. e. cultivation and domestication of crops, are still relatively fragmental. This paper is dealing with human-environment interaction in the Early and Middle Holocene in the area of the southeastern Africa. That summarizes current knowledge about archeobotanical researches with special regard to the domestication of crops. Key words: holocene, NE Africa, plant cultivation, agriculture
