Abstract: We have reviewed and implemented the method of frequency-resolved optical gating. We discuss the fiber FROG experimental setup and several algorithms for pulse retrieval. These include the basic algorithm, the generalized projections and the genetic algorithm. We have developed new variants of the pulse retrieval algorithms by combining the generalized projections and the genetic algorithm and are experimenting with them to get optimal performance.
