Objev infinitesimálního počtu v sedmnáctém století otevřel badatelům nové obzoru exaktních přírodních věd a umožnil matematické řešení mnoha problémů, jež byly jinými prostředky často neřešitelné. Zvláštní kapitolou byly extremální problémy tj. vyhledávání maxim a minim různých funkcí. This paper present a short historical overview of evolution of infinitesimal and variotional calculus.Some of the classical variational problems ara formulated and described.
