Znalost původní, předdenudační mocnosti nadložních sedimentů má význam pro řešení různých geologických i geotechnických otázek. Tato rešeršní práce shrnuje dostupné metody pro stanovení původní mocnosti, jejich použití a případné nepřesnosti z hlediska mechaniky zemin. Zájmovou oblastí je severní část vídeňské pánve, v blízkosti města Brna. Sedimentovaly zde miocenní jíly, známé jako brněnské "tégly". V práci je proto zahrnut i stručný popis geologie karpatské předhlubně. Knowledge of the thickness of the overburden of sediments is important in tackling different geological and geotechnical issues. This Bachelor Thesis deals with the available methods for determining the original overburden thickness and with the possible errors from the point of view of the soil mechanics. The area of interest is the northern part of the Vienna Basin, in the vicinity of the town of Brno. The sediments in question are Miocene clays, known locally as Brno Tegel. Consequently the Thesis includes also a brief description of the geological origin of the Carpathian Foredeep.
