Hra německého dramatika a režiséra Bertolda Brechta Matka Kuráž a její děti uvedená v roce 1970 na jevišti pražského Tylova divadla pod režijním vedením Jana Kačera, jež je předmětem práce, se stala na dlouhou dobu posledním projevem svobodné divadelní kreativity v Národním divadle po vstupu vojsk Varšavské smlouvy zlomového roku 1968. Inscenace byla v mnoha směrech výjimečnou událostí. Nejen, že se v ní strhujícím životním výkonem zaskvěla představitelka titulní role Dana Medřická, ale režisérovi se podařilo z Brechtova válečného příběhu z rozvrácené Evropy 17. století citlivě vyhmátnout nadčasové jádro, jež v konkrétní politické situaci počínající "normalizace" Československa rezonovalo v publiku opravdu mimořádným způsobem. My thesis deals with the play of the German playwright and director Bertold Brecht Mother Courage and her Children, which was introduced in 1970 at the stage of Prague Tyl's Theatre under the direction of Jan Kačer and which became for a long time the last expressing of free theatrical creativity at the National Theatre after the entry of Warsaw Pact troops in the breakthrough year 1968. The performance was an exceptional event in many ways. Not only because of the fact that the life performance of Dana Medřická in the title role was really stunning, but it was also the work of the director who managed to touch in the Brecht's war story from the disorganised Europe in the 17th century the timeless core, which in the concrete political situation of the beginning "normalization" of Czechoslovakia resonated with the audience in an extraordinary way.
