Abstract: This study was aimed to analyze the effects of the antiarrhythmic drug ajmaline (a known inhibitor of the fast sodium current INa) on the potassium currents, namely the transient outward current (Ito) and the current measured at the end of a depolarizing pulse (IK) in rat ventricular myocytes. Both currents were inhibited in concentration- and voltage-dependent manner. However, the effects were frequency-independent.
