Práce se zabývá problematikou výuky češtiny u českých neslyšících a významou rolí znakového jazyka v této výuce. Je zde popsán proces osvojování jazyka (u slyšících i neslyšících dětí) a nastíněn rozdíl mezi osvojováním prvního jazyka a učením se druhému/cizímu jazyku. V práci jsou dále naznačeny příčiny nízké gramotnosti českých neslyšících a možnost řešení tohoto problému. Řešení představuje pouze zásadní změna metodiky výuky češtiny. Čeština je pro neslyšící druhý jazyk a má-li být její výuka efektivní, musí být vyučována v kontrastu s jejich prvním jazykem, kterým je český znakový jazyk. There is described a process of language acquisition (for hearing and deaf children) and there is also described the difference between acquiring the first language and learning a second / foreign language. The work also denotes the causes of low literacy of Czech deaf and the possibility of solving this problem. Only a major change in the way of teaching Czech language can be the solution. Czech is a second language for Czech deaf and if we want it to be taught effectively, it must be taught in the contrast with the Czech sign language.
