Abstract: At some conditions, the formation of a new phase in a metastable system occurs by the mechanism of homogeneous nucleation. In the original phase, microscopic ``local structures'' can be found. These can be clusters in a gaseous phase, bubbles in a liq or microcrystals in a melt. Each local structure can be characterized, among other parameters, by position of its center and by its size (e.g., the total number of molecules participating in the structure).
