Patogenní trichomonády domácích zvířat jsou anaerobní prvoci vyskytující se v trávicím a reprodukčním traktu. Způsobují většinou závažná onemocnění, která mají za následek ekonomické ztráty v hospodářství a u chovatelů. Mezi takové trichomonády se řadí Cochlosoma anatis. Parazituje ve střevech ptáků, kde je příčinou tzv. runting syndromu, enteritidy. Trichomonas gallinae postihuje zažívací trakt holubů a tyto těžké infekce představují hrozbu u volně žijících migrujících ptáků a ohrožených druhů dravých ptáků. Histomonas meleagridis představuje původce nejznámějšího, smrtelného a velice obávaného onemocnění krůt a brojlerů pro hospodářskou produkci, tzv. "blackhead disease (černohlavost)". Tritrichomonas foetus způsobuje nejvýznamnější sexuálně přenosné onemocnění tritrichomonózu skotu, které způsobuje značné ztráty hovězí produkce po celém světě. T. foetus byl nedávno identifikován také jako původce průjmového onemocnění koček. Podobně nedávno popsaný druh Tritrichomonas mobilensis pravděpodobně narušuje střevní sliznici u kotulů. Tato práce zahrnuje obecnou charakteristiku jednotlivých druhů a podrobný souhrn dosavadních znalostí popisujících jednotlivá onemocnění. Popis pojímá problematiku zdrojů a přenosu nákazy, hostitelskou specifitu parazita, rozšíření onemocnění. Shrnuje znalosti o... Pathogenic trichomonads of domestic animals are anaerobic protozoa found in the gastrointestinal and reproductive tract. They are responsible for serious diseases, which result in economic losses in agriculture. Cochlosoma anatis parasitizes in the intestine of birds, where it causes so-called runting syndrome and enteritis. Trichomonas gallinae is found in the gastrointestinal tract of pigeons and represents a dangerous infection of wild migratory birds and endangered birds of prey. Histomonas meleagridis is the causative agent of the best known, fatal and very redoubtable disease of turkeys and hens, so-called "blackhead disease". Tritrichomonas foetus is the causative agent of the most important sexually transmitted infection, tritrichomonosis in cattle, which causes significant economic losses in global beef production. T. foetus was recently identified as the causal agent of diarrheal disease in cats. Also Tritrichomonas mobilensis was recently described as a new species which probably disrupts the intestinal mucosa of squirrel monkeys. This work includes the general characteristics of these species and a detailed summary of the current knowledge on the diseases they are causing.
