The aim of the thesis is to design general recomendations on mistake management in a foreign language classroom which would meet both teachers' and learners' requirements and methods of mistake management in a foreign language classroom which would contribute to development of learners' communicative competence. The following methods were used in the research: analysis of literature on pedagogy, psychology and methodology of foreign language teaching, interview, questionnaire and observation. Thirteen general recommendations and fifteen methods of mistake management in a foreign language classroom which contribute to the development of learners' communicative competence were designed as a result of the research. Cílem dané práce je zaprvé vypracování obecných doporučení k práci s chybou na hodinách cizího jazyka, které budou odpovídat jak požadavkům učitelů, tak i požadavkům žáků, a za druhé vypracování metod práce s chybou na hodinách cizího jazyka, které budou podněcovat budování komunikační kompetence žáků. Pro dosažení daného cílu byly vybrány následující výzkumní metody: analýza vědecké literatury z oblasti pedagogiky, psychologie a metodologie výuky cizího jazyka, písemní a ústní dotazování učitelů a žáků, metoda pozorování. Výsledkem dané práce je třináct obecných doporučení a patnáct vyzkoušených v praxi metod práce s chybou na hodinách cizího jazyka, které podněcují budování komunikační kompetenci žáků.
