Cílem této práce je shromáždit materiály zabývající se potopou ve výtvarném umění a lidové slovesnosti. S pomocí této literatury je pak v první části práce nastíněn vývoj mýtů o potopě ve vybraných kulturách. Druhá část se zabývá výtvarným pojetím mýtu: na několika stěžejních pracích známých umělců je ukázán vizuální vývoj příběhu od raných dob křesťanských až po 19. století. The main aim of this study is to review materials concerning the topic of the Flood in fine arts and folk literature. Based on gathered resources the development of Flood myths of selected cultures has been described in the first part of this study. The other part deals with the artistic concept of the myths: the evolution of the story has been analysed in several crucial works of well- known artists from the early Christian period up to the 19th century.
