Abiotické stresory jako sucho, vysoká koncentrace soli či chlad dokážou velkou měrou ovlivnit vývoj a růst rostlin. Cis a trans elementy jsou jednou z možností, jak mohou rostliny regulovat svůj metabolismus v případě, kdy se jejich aktuální životní podmínky změní v nepříznivé. Tímto způsobem je indukována exprese řady genů, které nefungují pouze ve smyslu navození tolerance, ale i jako obecná odpověď na tyto stresory. Těchto dějů se účastní velká škála transkripčních faktorů a dalších trans faktorů, které se často vážou na specifické sekvence v promotorech - cis elementy. V posledních letech bylo provedeno mnoho prací na toto téma, sucho ale zůstává stále jednou z nejméně probádaných oblastí. Přesto byly popsány hlavní signální dráhy a komplexy kaskád směřující k regulaci exprese cílových genů. Některé z těchto cílových genů souvisejí s fotosyntetickým aparátem a jejich regulace může u rostlin stresovaných suchem výrazně ovlivnit účinnost fotosyntézy. Tato práce stručně popisuje hlavní cis a trans elementy rostlin uplatňující se v odezvě na sucho (se zvláštním zřetelem právě na regulaci fotosyntetických genů). Abiotic stresses, such as drought, high salinity and cold can strongly affect plant development and growth. Cis and trans elements are one of the options how plants regulate their own metabolism in those cases. That's the way how the expression of many target genes is induced. The products of these genes function not only in stress tolerance but also in general stress response. Many transcription factors and regulatory proteins (trans elements) are involved in these adaptions; those often interact with specific sequences in gene promoters (cis elements). Recenly, a progress has been made in analyzing the signal paths and complex cascades of gene expression regulation, although a little is still known about this regulation during drought conditions. Some of these target genes code products participating in photosyntesis and the regulation of their expression can significantly affect this process. This essay briefly describes main cis and trans elements of plant response to drought (with a particular focus on the regulation of photosyntetic genes).
