Abstract: 9 Abstract The study deals with regional identity in Czech-Polish borderland. The Broumov region is an example of peripheral region which is suitable for research of forming of regional identity regarding its history (expulsion of Germans after World War II). This ressetled region is compared with neighbouring regions without this historical experience (the Náchod region and Nové Město nad Metují region). The main aims are to analyze how inhabitans perceive his regional identity, how evaluate attractiveness of neigbouring towns and what take for regional symbols. The research is based on questionnaire inquiry.
