Abstract: Diplomová práce mapuje vývoj názvů ulic města Vrchlabí od konce 19. stoleti do současnosti, na základě všech dostupných dobových materiálů. Snaži se postihnout tendence v motivaci pojmenováváni ulic města Vrchlabí s ohledem na dějinné události. Vycházi z teoretických práci V. Šmilauera a R. Šrámka. Na jejich základě v úvodní části vysvětluje základni pojmy a vztahy onomastiky a toponomastiky.
