Abstract: The vibrational response of poly[methyl(phenyl)silane] and poly[biphenyl(methyl)-silane] have been investigated. As expected, narrow vibrational resonances are superimposed on a smooth interference background. The latter depends on the film thickness, its variation across the illuminated area, and the low-frequency limit of the electronic polarizability.
