Abstract: This diploma thesis explores regional culture curricular documents as tools of its mediation and reproduction of regional culture. The theoretical part starts with definition of key words related to culture, local and regional culture. Next theoretical part (chapter 3) describes curricular documents, which are products of new educational reform, in context of regional culture. Firstly, in practical part, I characterize two selected regions - Prague 1O and Uherskobrodsko region and their typical elements of culture. Chapter 5 summarizes results of questionnaire survey, which is focused on finding how students of elementary and grammar schools are informed about culture in their regions and as well as their approach to the local culture and role of schools in cultural education. The final part of this diploma thesis is devoted to my project proposal that should lead students to closer relationship with cultural and historical heritage in their regions, showed on the example of Uherskobrodsko region.
