Práce se zabývá problematikou současného autonomního postavení ostrova Man vůči Velké Británii a Evropské unii, potažmo zbytku světa. Základním východiskem pro práci byl historický vývoj ostrova současně s aktuálními změnami na ostrově. Zde můžeme uvést znovuobnovení manského jazyka, který má původ v keltštině a řadí se mezi jeden z keltských jazyků. Dále se jedná například o změny v rozdělování daňových příjmů mezi Velkou Británií a Manem. Man byl historicky velmi aktivní místo, které zažilo řadu různých nadvlád různých mocností a panovníků. Nikdy si však nenechal vzít svého ducha a kolektivní cítění, že by si měl vládnout sám sobě, že jeho obyvatelé nepatří pod nadvládu nikoho cizího. Tento fakt je v dnešní době připomínán všudypřítomnými triskeliony, obnovou manského jazyka. Tato práce se pokouší tyto a další aspekty přiblížit na historickém vývoji, aktuální politicko-ekonomické situaci a v neposlední řadě terénním šetřením mezi místními a zkoumáním jejích postojů, názorů a vztahů k ostrovu. The work deals with contemporary issues of the autonomous status of the Isle of Man with the UK and the European Union, furthermore, with the rest of the world. The basis for the work is the historical development of the Island simultaneously with present changes on the Island. Here we can mention the revival of the Manx language, which has its origins in Gaelic and ranks among one of the Celtic languages. The next important point in terms of autonomy is the distribution of tax revenues between Great Britain and the Isle of Man. The Isle of Man has historically been a very active place that has experienced a variety of different rulers and powers. This fact is today commemorated by the ubiquitous Triskelion, the Manx language revival and the collective feeling that the residents do not belong to anyone foreign domination. The aim of the work is to bring the closer look at historical evolution, current political and economic situation and finally a field research among locals and examining their attitudes, opinions and relations with the Island.
