cze Abstract:
The bachelor thesis deals with Jenny Nimmo´s contemporary English children´s fantasy. The first part is a brief introduction to the Nimmo´s life, because the writer is not a well known artist in our country. The next part describes a progression and signs of fantasy. Fantasy is connected with Gothic literature and Nimmo is typical of her usage of symbols of Welsh legends. The thesis also deals with an issue of secret, which is typical for several figures. The next part is an analysis of particular stories, figures, places, rituals and punishments. The final part compares the main character with Harry Potter, written by J. K. Rowling.
