V teoretické části se autorka práce zaměřuje na vymezení pojmu stáří a jeho projevy, poukazuje na tělesné a psychické změny. Uvádí některé aspekty života seniorů, dává návod, jak se připravit na stáří. Udává okolnosti, které mají vliv na kvalitu života. Autorka zmiňuje ageismus a jeho zdroje. Popisuje změnu postavení v historickém a společenském kontextu. Při vypracování teoretické části autorka čerpala z odborné literatury a článků dostupných na odborných internetových stránkách. V praktické části autorka vypracovala kazuistiky. Jako metodu zvolila rozhovor. Zjišťovala, jakým způsobem senioři vnímají přechod do důchodu, kvalitu svého života a jaké mají obavy v kontextu svého stárnutí. Oslovení senioři pohovořili o svých životech a na základě jejich osobní historie autorka vyvodila závěry. In the theoretical part, the author focuses on defining the idea of old age and its manifestations, points to the physical and psychological changes. The author features some aspects of senior´s life, gives instructions on how to prepare for old age. She indicates circumstances which affect the quality of life. The author mentions ageism and its resources, describes the position change in the historical and social contexts. When developing the theoretical part, the author drew from literature and scholarly articles available on the Internet. The practical part is composed of case studies where conversation was the method of choice. Author examined how older people perceive transition to retirement, the quality of their lives and what their concerns are in the context of their own aging. Addressed seniors talked about their lives. The author drew conclusions based on the senior´s personal histories.
