Electrical machines are used in many areas of the life of society and are produced in large numbers and range. Electrical machines with low output and small and low voltage are one of the oftenest used kinds. In a wider sense, we term as small electricalmachines those having the output lower than 1 kW (1000 W). From the viewpoint of use, we can divide small electrical machines to those for general use and for automation equipment. One of the most frequent types of electric machines is low voltage electric devices, i.e. those working with a rated voltage of up to 50 V. Elektrické stroje se používají v mnoha oblastech života spo¬lečnosti a vyrábí se ve velkém množství a sortimentu. Jedním z nejvíce používaných druhů jsou elektrické stroje malého výkonu na malé a nízké napětí. V širším smyslu názvem malé elektrické stroje označujeme takové stroje, které mají výkon menší než 1 kW (1000 W). Z hlediska užití můžeme rozdělit malé elektrické stroje na stroje pro obecnou potřebu a pro automatizační zařízení. Jedním z nejvíce frekventovaných druhů malých elektrických strojů jsou elektrické stroje na malé napětí, t.zn. na jmenovité napětí do 50 V.
