The aim of this bachelor thesis is to describe the business and investment environment of Italy and clarify why Italy, later on specifically Lombardy region as flagship of Italian economy, could be interesting for investors or entrepreneurs and also its importance within the European Union. This country has a lot of specific features, which are heavily influencing its position on the international trade either if there are negative such as long-term structural issues or positive such as fame quality and sophistication of Italian products in the world. The first chapter of the thesis is dedicated to the basic characteristics in terms of geographic, demographic and economic sub-division. The aim of the second chapter is to analyze Italy with the PEST analysis and the last chapter is devoted strictly to Lombardy region. I hope this thesis will tempt every reader to imagine what it would be like to draw a business plan for a possible investment opportunity in Italy. Cílem této bakalářské práce je popsat podnikatelské a investiční prostředí Itálie a objasnit, proč by Itálie a dále specificky region Lombardie jako vlajková loď italského hospodářství, mohla být zajímavou pro investory nebo podnikatele a také význam Itálie v rámci Evropské unie. Tato země má spoustu specifických vlastností, které silně ovlivňují její postavení na mezinárodním obchodu buď v negativním světle, jako jsou dlouhodobé strukturální problémy nebo pozitivní, jako je kvalita a propracovanost italských výrobků na světě. První kapitola bakalářské práce je věnována základním charakteristikám a pojednává o geografické, demografické a ekonomické situaci a sub-divizi italské ekonomiky. Cílem druhé kapitoly je analyzovat Itálii pomocí PEST analýzy a poslední kapitola se zaobírá výhradně Lombardií. Doufám, že tato práce bude inspirovat všechny čtenáře, aby si představili, alespoň na krátkou chvíli, jaké by to bylo, realizovat své podnikatelské plány právě v Itálii.
