Studie se zabývá charakterem tanečního zápisu v klasických českých sbírkách lidových písní a tanců konce 19. a počátku 20. století a možnostmi jeho soudobé interpretace. Výklad většinou fragmentárního zápisu je často závislý na zhodnocení dalších skutečností, které pomáhají porozumět jeho obsahu. Problematičnost záznamů spočívá především v nejednotnosti užívané terminologie. Dance records in collections of folk songs and dances of the late 19th and early 20th centuries and their fragmentary and incomplete nature pose many troubles for contemporary readers. They have to face varied terminology applied to a single fact, or by contrast, one name is used for steps comming in different melody, tempo as wel as metre/rythm.
