Historická kulturní krajina představuje významný fenomén kulturního bohatství společnosti. Území s vysokou koncentrací dochovaných kulturně historických hodnot může Ministerstvo kultury prohlásit za památkovou zónu. Velkým problémem současné správy krajinných památkových zón v ČR je absence systematicky pojatého managementu území zahrnujícího komplexní evidenci hodnot památkové zóny, plán její ochrany a regenerace a způsob sledování stavu území ve vazbě na plánování krajiny. Z uvedeného důvodu byl v letech 2012 - 2015 realizovaný výzkumný projekt financovaný Národní agenturou kulturní identity ""Ochrana a péče o historickou kulturní krajinu prostřednictvím institutu krajinných památkových zón"", jehož hlavním cílem byla standardizace všech výše zmíněných etap ochrany a správy památkových zón. Metodika se zaměřuje na problematiku monitoringu stavu krajinných památkových zón, který přesto, že je nezbytnou součástí správy každého území, není v České republice dosud standardizován ani efektivně zabezpečen. Metodika prezentuje hlavní principy metodiky monitoringu stavu krajinné památkové zóny, zpracované v rámci uvedeného projektu. Cultural landscape presents with its diversity and uniqueness a significant part of the natural and cultural heritage of human society. They are the Landscape Conservation Zones (LCZ) are currently the only legal category, through which the state heritage preservation may enter the field of protection of unique historical cultural landscape. Basic problem of the current management of the Landscape Conservation Zones is an absence of systematically designed, structured and standardized system of area conservation, management and planning including aspects of identification and evidence of the landscape values and methods of landscape quality monitoring. The guidance presents main principles of the suitable monitoring indicators and way of the landscape heritage assessment in the Czech Republic. There is the special emphasis is put on indicators describing changes of the land use pattern, landscape visibility and effectiveness of the planning tools.
