Tato diplomová práce se zabývá rolí územní samosprávy při ochraně kulturních hodnot. V teoretické části je nejprve diskutováno, co to jsou kulturní hodnoty, jaké jsou jejich přínosy a proč je potřeba je chránit. Následuje analýza nástrojů a institucí, které se v České republice zabývají ochranou kulturních hodnot a poté je tato analýza soustředěna na hl. m. Prahu, jež je významným kulturním centrem a na jehož území se nachází velké množství kulturních hodnot. Ukazuje se, že územní samosprávě je v České republice věnován značný prostor pro ochranu vlastních hodnot a míra její iniciativy je tak pro ochranu kulturních hodnot zásadní. Pražská samospráva disponuje jak mnoha institucemi, tak mnoha nástroji, které se věnují ochraně kulturních hodnot, nicméně se objevují i některé nedostatky. Tím aktuálním je chybějící aktualizace kulturní koncepce na územní hl. m. Prahy a z dlouhodobého hlediska je problémem pokles finančních prostředků a nedostatečná vzdělanost a informovanost v kulturní oblasti. The diploma thesis sets out to deal with the role of local governments for the protection of cultural values. The theoretical part discusses what cultural values are, what are their contributions and why it is necessary to protect them. This is followed by the analysis of instruments and institutions regarding the protection of culture values in the Czech Republic with the focus on Prague, being a significant cultural centre with many cultural values within its territory. It can be seen that local governments have many options on how to protect their cultural values, for which their level of initiative is crucial. The Prague government has many institutions and instruments aiming to protect the cultural values of the area, however there are some shortcomings. The most current one is a missing updated cultural strategy in Prague. From a long-term point of view, it can also be seen that there is a decline in spending on culture and lack of education and awareness in the cultural sphere.
