The ultimate goal of the following master thesis is to identify specific mistakes in corporate governance practices that have led to colossal losses in financial derivatives trading departments, to draw lessons from these cases, and to propose possible solutions to prevent such behavior and the consequences that follow. Základním cílem diplomové práce je identifikace fundamentálních příčin rozsáhlých finančních ztrát způsobených nezodpovědným, či dokonce nelegálním obchodováním s finančními deriváty. S využitím případových studií jsou vedle základních příčin selhání firemní governace v této oblasti odvozeny také příslušné obecné závěry a formulována doporučení pro budoucnost, jak takovýmto fatálním ztrátám v důsledku selhání jednotlivců i celých korporací předcházet.
