Cílem předkládané práce je zhodnotit úlohu generálního tajemníka OSN Pana Ki-muna v konfliktu v Sýrii a identifikovat faktory působící na mediaci jeho speciálního vyslance, Kofiho Annana. Bádání je omezeno lednem a koncem srpna roku 2012. Práce zkoumá konflikt v Sýrii z hlediska chování stran konfliktu, konfliktní fáze a vlastností mediátora. Úloha generálního tajemníka je analyzována vzhledem k ostatním zastávaným rolím v syrském konfliktu. This thesis aims to evaluate the role of UN-Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon in the Syrian conflict and identify factors effecting mediation of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General Kofi Annan. Research is focused on the period from January until August 2012. The study examines the Syrian conflict in terms of behaviour of parties, conflict phase and characteristics of mediator. The Secretary-General's role is analysed with regard to other tasks he might have assumed.
