Cílem této práce je vypracovat analýzu zdravotní reformy ve Spojených státech z roku 2010 a zodpovědět následující otázky, které zároveň představovaly cíle zkoumané reformy. Pomohl Affordable Care Act snížit procentuální podíl osob bez zdravotního pojištění? Stalo se zdravotní pojištění dostupnější? Pomohl zákon snížit výdaje na zdravotní péči? Po jejich zodpovězení bych měl být schopen rozhodnout, do jaké míry se podařilo cíle naplnit. Teoretická část práce se věnuje povaze zdravotního systému ve Spojených státech a problémům s ní spojených, které vedly k potřebě stávající systém reformovat. Dále je pozornost věnována samotné podobě Affordable Care Act. V praktické části práce jsou sledovány časové řady vybraných ukazatelů. Hlavně se jedná o procentuální podíl osob bez zdravotního pojištění, cenu zdravotního pojištění a celkové výdaje na zdravotní systém. Doufám, že se mi podaří na základě dat v období před reformou vysledovat jejich dlouhodobý trend, který budu moci následně porovnat s poreformním vývojem sledovaných ukazatelů. The aims of this bachelor's thesis is to analyse the health care reform in the United States from the year 2010 and to answer the following questions, which also represented the objectives of the reform. Did the Affordable Care Act help to reduce the percentage of residents without health insurance? Did the health insurance become more affordable? Did the act contribute to the reduction of the health care expenditure? After answering these questions I should be able to determine to what extent where the objectives fullfiled. The theoretical part of this work is dedicated to the character of the health care system in the United States and problems related to that, which led to the need to reform the current system. Further, the attention is being paid to the Affordable Care Act. In the practical part the data of chosen indicators are being observed. The main indicators are the percentage of the residents without the health insurance, the price of the health insurance and the total health expenditure. Hopefully, I will be able to find a long run trend of chosen indicators from the database in the period before the reform, which can be compared with the indicators' development after the reform.
