Je Michael Schumacher opravdu nejschopnějším pilotem Formule 1? Nebo se jeho výjimečné výsledky odvíjejí pouze od vlastností jeho vozu? Není mezi závodníky někdo lepší? Při hledání odpovědí na tyto otázky aplikuji různé metody evaluace talentu na data vybraných závodníků F1 v období 1980 až 2013. Jednou z nich je metoda explicitního vyjádření talentu pomocí modelu mnohonásobné regrese s využitím fixních efektů. Její podstatou je oddělení vlivu závodníka od vlivu vozu na celkový výsledek závodu zaznamenaný statistikami. Výsledkem mého zkoumání je zjištění, že nejtalentovanějším pilotem mého výběru není statisticky nejlepší závodník Michael Schumacher ale Fernando Alonso. Díky možnosti vyjádření talentu závodníka, dojde k zefektivnění na trhu práce závodníků díky snížení nákladů na výběr nejlepšího jezdce pro potřeby týmu. Is Michael Schumacher really the best Formula 1 driver? Are not his outstanding succeses only result of qualities of his racing car? Is there anyone better among Formula 1 drivers? During my research, I apply miscellaneous methods of talent evaluation to dataset of the chosen drivers racing between years 1980 and 2013. The method of explicit talent expression by means of the multiple regression model using fixed effects is one of them. The methodology is based on separation of driver's influence and racing car's effect on the total result of a race recorded by statistics. According to my research, Michael Schumacher is statistically the best driver of my selection, however, Fernando Alonso is the most talented one. Thanks to a posibility to express driver's talent, the efficiency at the labour market of racing drivers rises, which is caused by reduction of costs of the best driver selection for the needs of the team.
