The main aim of this Master thesis is to analyze the development of tourism sector and its impact on the economic growth of South Africa. The first part, literature review, explains different types of tourism and their contribution to the national economy. It deals with Travel and tourism competitiveness index showing the tourism development in South Africa compared with other African countries. The practical part contains analysis of number of tourist arrivals, their expenditures and international tourism income. It deals with multiple regression analysis as a statistical tool for measuring the dependence between GDP and other economic variables (including tourism income). Based on the results, discussion and conclusion is made. Cílem této dipolomové práce je analyzovat rozvoj cestovního ruchu a jeho dopad na ekonomický růst Jižní Afriky. První část, teoretická část, vysvětluje druhy cestovního ruchu a jejich význam pro národní ekonomiku. Zabývá se Indexem cestování a konkurencechopnosti cestovního ruchu ukazující rozvoj cestovního ruchu v Jižní Africe ve srovnání s ostatními zeměmi Afriky. Praktická část obsahuje analýzy počtu mezinárodních turistů, jejich výdaje a výši přijmu z mezinárodního cestovního ruchu. Zabývá se vícenásobnou regresní analýzou jakožto statistickou metodou pro měření závislosti mezi HDP a dalšími ekonomickými veličinami (včetně příjmu z cestovního ruchu). Diskuze a závěr jsou vytvořeny na základě výsledků.
