This bachelor thesis examines the problem of food waste in the Czech Republic in comparison to the European Union. Firstly, this thesis presents the overall information about the global problem of food waste. Secondly, this thesis analyses concrete data about the total amount of generated food waste in the Czech Republic. Moreover, this work focuses on the country's attitude towards food waste, which is presented through non-governmental organizations and the government itself. Last but not least, the final task of this thesis is to give a comparison of the described results with the European Union. Eventually, there is given a place for suggested solutions and final conclusion. Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá problémem plýtvání potravinami v České republice ve srovnání s Evropskou unií. Nejprve práce popisuje plýtvání potravin z globálního hlediska. V další části se práce snaží vyhodnotit množství plýtvaného jídla v České republice a také analyzuje přístup státu k danému problému jak skrz nevládní organizace, tak skrz vládu samotnou. Dalším úkolem této práce je porovnat popsané výsledky s Evropskou unií. V poslední řadě nechává prostor pro návrhy na zlepšení situace týkající se plýtvaní potravinami a pro konečný závěr.
