V teoretické části jsou shromážděné informace o poranění míchy, možných komplikacích a léčbě, informace o vlivu plavání a vodního prostředí na fyzickou kondici, tělesné struktury, činnost svalstva a dechové funkce. Součástí teoretické části jsou také informace o metodické řadě terapie pohybem ve vodě, využívané u tělesně handicapovaných. Cílem praktické části bylo zhodnotit vliv pravidelného plavání na fyzickou kondici a dechové funkce u pacientů s míšní lézí. The theory part contains information regarding spinal cord injuries, possible complications, therapy, influence of swimming and water environment on the physical constitution, muscle functions and respiratory functions. Information about the methods of water movement therapy for physically handicapped are a part of the theoretical part as well. The aim of the practical part was to evaluate the influence of regular swimming on the physical condition and respiratory functions of spinal lesion impaired patients.
