[cze][eng] The thesis will examine the cultural and ideological context in which photographs were made in Israel/ Palestine at the first decades of the twentieth century, a time when people were forming an identity and an establishment of national identity.
It will examine the work of Jewish photographers who worked in the first half of the twentieth century such as Ephraim Moses Lilien, Avraham Soskin and Tzdok Basan. with amphasis on the iconographk style, I will highlight the connection of these photographs to a broader historic Zionistic approach towards a creation of modern jewish identity throughout photographyJewish, pre/israeli photography, Israel, Palestine, new jew.
