Práce se zabývá sociální prací jako profesí a jejím vnímáním ze strany seniorů. Vysvětluje základní pojmy, důležité k pochopení problematiky, popisuje historii sociální práce od 50. let 20. století až po současnost a věnuje se specifikům sociální práce se seniory. Zabývá se také ideálními vlastnostmi, které by měl mít sociální pracovník, zmiňuje možné oblasti jeho uplatnění, členění pracovníků podle typologie a kompetence, jejichž získání je potřebné pro dobrou praxi. Součástí práce je kvantitativní výzkum, který (s využitím metody sněhové koule) přibližuje názory seniorů na sociální pracovníky a jejich zkušenosti s nimi. This work deals with social work as a profession and its perception by senior citizens. It explains the basic concepts that are important to understanding the problems, describes the history of social work from the 50th years of the 20th century to the present and focuses on the specifics of social work with the elderly. It also deals with ideal characteristics which a social worker should have, it mentions possible areas of his application, classification of workers according to the typology and skills, which acquisition is necessary for good practice. The work also includes quantitative research, which (with use of the snowball method) brings the opinions of senior citizens about social workers and their experiences with them.
