Cílem této práce je popsat pravidla výběru křestního jména plynoucí z matričního zákona platného v České republice, uvést doporučení při výběru křestního jména a zmapovat vývoj křestních jmen v České republice za pomoci statistických údajů. Práce v první části popisuje zákonné možnosti a povinnosti občana při výběru nebo změně jména. Ve druhé části jsou popsána doporučení při výběru jména a ve třetí kapitole jsou uvedena jména podle oblíbenosti v rozdělení na děvčata a chlapce v jednotlivých letech. Účelem této práce je získání přehledu a představy o dominujících dívčích a chlapeckých jménech na území České republiky v posledních letech. Přehledy mohou být použity jako inspirace pro výběr jména potomka a pomoci při zjišťování, zda vybrané jméno patří mezi jména oblíbená mezi českými občany. The main objective of this thesis is to describe selection rules of given names under the Civil register Act valid in the Czech Republic, describe recommendations for choosing a given name and map the development of given names in the Czech Republic using statistical data. The first part describes the legal options and obligations when choosing or changing names, the second section is focused on name selection and in the third part there are mentioned given names sorted by their popularity between girls and boys in each year. Conclusion of this thesis is to get an overview of the dominant girls' and boys' names in the Czech Republic in recent years. Conclusions can be used as inspiration in choosing the name of the child and help determine whether the selected name belongs to names popular among Czech citizens.
